Berggruen Fellow Viren Murthy Co-edited Volume on “East Asian Marxisms”

We are proud to announce that Viren Murthy, our Berggruen Fellow at NYU, has co-edited a volume on “East-Asian Marxisms and Their Trajectories”.

Viren Murthy’s coedited volume unites a diverse group of scholars to reassess the impact and historicity of Marxism in East Asia. The volume is described by Routledge as “drawing from various disciplines to reinterpret Marx, and shed light on the complex dynamics of global capitalism in various historical/national contexts.” It will be of interest to students and scholars of East Asian studies, social and political theory, sociology and globalization studies.

Viren Murthy teaches Transnational Asian History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and researches Chinese and Japanese Intellectual History. He has also recently coedited a volume of translations of the Japanese sinologist Mizoguchi Yuzo published in the Journal of the Inter-Asia Cultural Studies Society.
