2019 Annual Report

In 2019, we witnessed a burst of growth for the Berggruen Research Center at Peking University (the Center), both intellectually and organizationally. We made significant advances on two projects—”AI meets Chinese philosophers,” and “Tianxia and geopolitics”—and both are now at the stage of book publication. We are one of the first research institutions globally to focus on bringing together artificial intelligence scientists and Chinese philosophers to foster mutual understanding and innovative thinking, and on non-Western intellectual sources of governance for both domestic and global affairs in a digital age.
